Experience the authentic taste of Vietnam with our signature Pho Dac Biet (House Special Beef Pho). This beloved Vietnamese classic features premium beef cuts including rare steak, brisket, tendon, and tripe, served in a rich, aromatic broth that has been carefully simmered for hours to develop deep, complex flavors. Each bowl is served piping hot with fresh rice noodles, bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lime, creating the perfect balance of textures and tastes.
At Mekong Restaurant, our Pho Dac Biet represents the pinnacle of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The secret to our exceptional pho lies in the broth – a labor of love that requires hours of simmering beef bones with aromatic spices including star anise, cinnamon, charred ginger, and roasted onions. This slow-cooking process extracts every ounce of flavor, creating a deeply savory, perfectly balanced broth that's known for being incredibly hot and authentically delicious.
Our Pho Dac Biet features a premium selection of beef cuts that showcase different textures and flavors. The rare steak (tai) is thinly sliced and cooks gently in the hot broth, the brisket (nam) provides tender, flavorful bites, while the tendon (gan) and tripe (sach) add authentic texture that pho enthusiasts love. This combination, served over fresh rice noodles and accompanied by a plate of crisp bean sprouts, fragrant Thai basil, cilantro, and lime wedges, allows you to customize each spoonful to your taste.
Each bowl arrives steaming hot, ensuring the broth is at the perfect temperature to gently cook the rare beef while you enjoy it. We serve our pho with hoisin sauce and sriracha on the side, allowing you to adjust the sweetness and heat to your preference. The fresh herbs and lime juice brighten the rich broth, creating a harmonious balance that has made our Pho Dac Biet a customer favorite for years.
For the best experience, add the fresh herbs and bean sprouts to your liking, squeeze in lime juice for brightness, and customize with hoisin and sriracha. The noodles should be slurped hot, and the beef enjoyed with every spoonful of the aromatic broth.
Calgary Resident
"Simply the best Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary. It's not often I'm in the NE but it's worth the drive to eat here. Really good flavours and satisfying sizes. Most other Vietnamese restaurants are really bland but here, you'll find fresh ingredients, nice seasoning, tender meat and an assortment of sauces to use. Would recommend either their Pho or vermicelli bowl."
